Sam Horton – Functional Breathing Instructor | Pilates, Strength & Pelvic Health Coach
I’m a movement and wellness coach with over 30 years of experience in the fitness industry, specialising in restorative Pilates, strength training, pelvic health, and breathwork. Based in Cumbria, UK, I support adults, mostly aged 40 and above, through both in-person and online sessions.
My journey into breathwork began through Pilates, where I saw firsthand how dysfunctional breathing patterns can affect posture, stress, and pelvic floor function. I later co-developed a class called Exhale alongside Dr. Julia Jones (now founder of Holidity), which deepened my appreciation of breath as a powerful tool for mental and physical wellness. This work led me to train in the Oxygen Advantage method—a science-backed, practical approach to functional breathing. I now use these techniques to help my clients improve sleep, reduce anxiety, boost energy, and support their well-being through fatigue, stress, menopause, and other midlife challenges.
I integrate Oxygen Advantage techniques into my weekly class, “Breathe & Release – Method for Mind, Body, and Wellness”, and incorporate them into my Restorative Pilates sessions and holistic wellness training.
Personally, I’ve faced my own struggles with pain, stress, and burnout. Integrating nasal breathing, breath control, and flow-state techniques into my life has helped me feel calmer, more resilient, and better able to enjoy life.
I support clients with breath-related issues such as poor sleep, fatigue, snoring, brain fog, stress-related tension, and menopause symptoms.
My teaching style is inclusive, encouraging, and grounded in real-life needs. I love working with adults who feel overwhelmed, tired, or stuck in unhealthy patterns and want a more sustainable, body-connected approach to feeling better.
