Nick Heath was diagnosed with type-1 diabetes at age 11 and has had the disease for over 20 years. In 2017, he found the Oxygen Advantage, which profoundly improved his relationship with diabetes. With a background as a research scientist, Nick wanted to understand the science behind how breathing could help his diabetes. This led him to read hundreds of scientific papers and to become a certified OA instructor.

Nick has now been practicing, researching, and sharing breathing information for over five years. In addition to being an OA instructor, he is also a member of the Global Wellness Institute’s BREATHE Initiative and the creator of www.thebreathingdiabetic.com.

Course Curriculum..

This course provides a comprehensive understanding of diabetes and how Oxygen Advantage® breathing techniques can support individuals managing the condition. You’ll learn the fundamentals of diabetes, key complications, and why breathwork is uniquely beneficial.

The modules explore how OA exercises balance the autonomic nervous system, reduce stress and anxiety, support healthy blood pressure, improve blood flow and tissue oxygenation, and enhance insulin sensitivity. You’ll also learn how better sleep, nasal breathing, and safe intermittent hypoxia training may contribute to improved metabolic health. The course concludes with tailored breathing protocols for different BOLT scores, guidance on expected progress, and important safety warnings based on fluctuating blood glucose levels.

The OA Technique is based on 3 fundamentals of Functional Breathing..

The three dimensions of breathing are shared in a unique, simple series of protocols that can be used at rest and during exercise. This is an accessible program, designed to retrain the breath. The focus is on light, slow and deep breathing.
