Applying Oxygen Advantage® to Yoga
Teach with Confidence—Understand the Why Behind the Breath
Imagine being able to seamlessly integrate scientifically proven pranayama techniques into your yoga practice and teachings. This course merges ancient yogic wisdom with modern science, ensuring that you not only improve your students’ breathwork on the mat but also help them manage stress, sleep better, and improve their overall health off the mat.
We all appreciate the profound impact that pranayama has on our practice—improving mental clarity, emotional balance, and physical health.
However, have you ever considered that the effects of breathing practices might vary widely among our students, depending on their individual health backgrounds?
Why Tailored Breathing Practices Matter
While our intentions in teaching pranayama are to benefit our students, emerging scientific evidence suggests that not all breathing practices are suitable for everyone. Certain techniques that increase energy levels in some might exacerbate anxiety or physical symptoms in others, particularly those with conditions like asthma or cardiovascular issues.
This is where the importance of continually updating our knowledge becomes evident. The Oxygen Advantage® Breathing for Yoga course is designed to deepen your understanding of how breathing affects the body on multiple levels, enabling you to tailor your classes with precision and care ensuring pranayama benefits every student.

Is the Breathing for Yoga Instructor Training only for certified yoga teachers, or can practitioners join as well?
The Breathing for Yoga Instructor Training is primarily designed for yoga teachers who want to enhance their teaching with advanced breathwork techniques, but yoga practitioners can also join the course. However, there is an important distinction:
- Yoga Teachers: If you hold a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training certificate, you can earn continuing education credits (CECs) with Yoga Alliance upon completing the course. This helps certified teachers deepen their skills and enhance their teaching practice while gaining recognized credits.
- Yoga Practitioners: While yoga practitioners can absolutely benefit from the course to improve their personal breathwork practice and deepen their understanding of functional breathing in yoga, they won’t be able to claim the CECs with Yoga Alliance if they do not hold a 200-hour certificate.
This means practitioners can still participate, learn, and integrate the techniques, but the certification aspect with Yoga Alliance is reserved for registered yoga teachers.
What makes Oxygen Advantage® different from traditional pranayama practices?
