From 9–5 to Breathwork Coach - Brendan Magill

Most people don’t think about their breathing — until stress, poor sleep, or anxiety start to build.
For me, breathwork became more than just a personal interest. It became the thing that changed my direction entirely.
“I wanted to help people in a meaningful way.”
At the time, I was working a 9–5 role in the pharmaceutical industry. It was stable and predictable — but not fulfilling.
I could see the impact my wife was having, helping people every day… and I knew I wanted to do something that actually changed how people feel.
Breathwork had been on my radar for years. But this time, it landed differently.
This time, it made sense.
Discovering a System That Actually Works
I had explored breathwork before.
But like many people, it felt fragmented — techniques without structure.
That changed when I discovered Oxygen Advantage®.
“It just clicked. It’s grounded in science, it’s practical, and it actually gives you a way to improve your breathing every day — not just during a session.”
Instead of one-off techniques, I found a complete system:
- Assess how someone is breathing
- Understand what’s driving their symptoms
- Apply simple, tailored exercises
- Track real progress
This structure is what makes the method so effective. It’s not about doing more — it’s about breathing better, consistently.
Turning Knowledge Into Impact
After attending the Advanced Oxygen Advantage® training, I didn’t just learn the method.
I changed direction.
I reduced my working hours and started building a new path — one focused on helping others.
Today, I work with:
- People dealing with stress, anxiety, and poor sleep
- Students navigating academic pressure
- Individuals looking for calm, focus, and control
- Young athletes aiming to improve performance and recovery
Through 1:1 sessions, small groups, and workshops, I bring breathwork into everyday life.
Simple. Practical. Effective.
Breathwork That Fits Real Life
What sets my approach apart is its accessibility.
There’s no overwhelm.
No extremes.
Just tools people can actually use.
“Even small changes — like breathing lighter before sleep or becoming aware of your breathing during the day — can have a huge impact.”
Clients don’t just learn techniques.
They build awareness, regulation, and resilience.
And the feedback reflects that.
“People come back saying they’re sleeping better, feeling calmer, and handling stress differently. That’s the real reward.”
A Holistic Approach to Wellbeing
My wife Joanne and I co-founded Hidden Gem Healing — a space designed for deeper, more integrated support.
Together, we combine:
- Breathwork
- Reiki
- Reflexology
- Relaxation practices
Our goal is simple:
“To create a space where people feel comfortable, supported, and able to reconnect with themselves.”
Looking Ahead: Bringing Breathwork Into Sport
While I already work with individuals and students, my vision is expanding.
I’m now focused on bringing breath training into sport and performance environments.
Because the same principles apply:
- Better breathing = better endurance
- Better regulation = better decisions
- Better recovery = better consistency
Breathing underpins everything — whether it’s managing stress or performing on the pitch.
Why This Matters
Most people never think about how they breathe.
But breathing affects:
- Sleep
- Energy
- Focus
- Stress response
- Performance
The goal of my work is to change that — using simple, practical tools that help people feel calmer, sleep better, and handle stress more effectively.
Start With One Breath
You don’t need to overhaul your life to see change.
You just need a starting point.
For me, that started with curiosity.
Now, it’s a mission.
“My goal is to make breathing feel natural and accessible — something people can rely on for life.”
