I completed my training with Patrick in 2020 in both OA and Buteyko. I was already a qualified PT. I’ve had a lifelong interest and participation in sport, competing in running, football, judo, squash and golf over the years.
As an Oxygen Advantage instructor, as well as breathwork, I offer help with the mental side to health and performance- the psychological element. I work on how to make more effective use of the mind when playing, training or in competition, with anxiety and stress, chronic pain and/or injury, and sleep..
I studied engineering at university and worked in aviation for 30 years, ultimately in management. In 2009, I changed career and am now a psychotherapist and clinical hypnotherapist in private practice. I am an approved supplier to the NHS and provide one-to-one CBT to NHS staff and short ‘Breathing for Stress’ courses to small groups.
Sports psychology now involves breathing. Among many examples is Rory McIlroy citing breathing as contributing to his success at the 2025 Masters.
For me, attention training was also life-changing. Learning to adopt a more relaxed but alert awareness along with breathwork is extremely effective in all areas of life, particularly sports performance. The specific method I use is to achieve this, in which I am a master trainer, is called Open Focus - more info on my website.
