About Me
Hi, I’m Cam Bates, a Certified Advanced Oxygen Advantage Instructor based in Rutland, UK.
My background is in the corporate banking world, where I’ve spent over 20 years working on high-pressure regulatory projects and helping banks improve after the financial crisis. That experience gave me a strong interest in how people stay calm, think clearly and make good decisions under pressure.
I came to breathing through my own journey. At first, I was simply curious, but once I felt the difference in my stress, focus, running, recovery and ability to stay composed, it became a real game changer. That is what made me want to help other people experience the same kind of shift.
Alongside my Oxygen Advantage training, I’ve also completed a University of Cambridge certificate in the neuropsychology of decision-making, which connects closely with my interest in breathing, stress, focus and performance.
I’m also a Toastmasters member and regularly run impromptu speaking sessions, where breathing is a key part of helping people stay composed, think clearly and speak with more confidence under pressure.
My approach is practical, friendly and down to earth. I help people understand how they currently breathe, what may need to change, and how to use simple breathing tools in real life — before a difficult meeting, during a busy workday, before a run, after a stressful moment, or when trying to sleep better.
I work with a range of people, including corporate professionals, day traders, sales professionals, journalists, athletes, mums, dads and children. I’m also a keen runner, recently completing a half marathon, and I enjoy supporting local schools with simple tools for calm, focus and confidence.
People often describe my approach as clear, practical and easy to apply. I don’t believe in making breathing complicated. The aim is simple: understand what is happening, make the right changes, and leave with something you can actually use.
