Lisa Hammond discovered yoga in 2012 while searching for a way to navigate more than 20 years of anxiety and periods of depression. Looking back, the breath has been the common thread throughout her personal practice and teaching from the very beginning. Students often commented on her emphasis on breathing long before she understood the science behind its impact.
A pivotal moment came in January 2021 when she attended Yoga For First Responders Instructor School. There, she came to understand that breathing is one of the few functions of the body that is both automatic and voluntary, making it a powerful pathway for influencing the nervous system. It confirmed what she had intuitively experienced for years: the breath isn't optional—it's foundational.
Lisa completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training with Pixie Kastrup in Ventura, followed by 300 hours of advanced study with Kia Miller in meditation, pranayama, mantra, kriya, and self-mastery. She has also completed Relax and Renew® Level I Restorative Yoga training and is a certified and licensed Yoga For First Responders instructor.
Today, Lisa integrates evidence-based breathing techniques with her yoga background to help people improve nervous system regulation, build resilience, and develop practical skills they can use in everyday life.
