Everything begins with the breath. Whether we are conscious of it or not, our breathing determines our state of mind and in turn our state of mind determines our breathing. With a history of years spent fighting depression, anxiety and panic attacks, I have firsthand knowledge of the power of the breath and its effects on mental health.
After a friend recommended Patrick McKeown’s book The Oxygen Advantage, I read, re-read and started implementing the techniques and exercises into my own daily life and workouts and found positive results both physically and mentally. I was surprised that I had never heard of the benefits of nasal breathing before. I value this knowledge so much that I want to spread the word and help people from all walks of life start to observe their breathing patterns and guide them towards utilizing their breath for improved mental health and physical performance.
With easy access to the Rocky Mountains and several national parks, I love hiking, running, biking, skiing and exploring in the mountains. In my daily life I practice meditation, mindfulness, yoga as well as cardio and weight training. Each of these activities help keep my mind and body active and are much more enjoyable since I learned how to breathe properly! I now have more energy and improved performance.
I am willing to teach and help anyone with an open mind and a desire to be better. Whether it is dealing with anxiety/stress, concentration/focus, general health or athletic performance, I want to demonstrate how a few simple breathing techniques can help change lives.
I live in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I am available for individual and group online training. I can be reached by email for a free consultation.
