After suffering three torn ligaments in my knee while wrestling in college, my medical team consisted of an orthopedic surgeon, chiropractor, strength coach, and athletic trainer. After having my medical team rehabilitate me without surgery, I decided to commit my life to helping others overcome their injuries as conservatively as possible.

I have served in a multidisciplinary work setting since 1991 with my experience in the Emergency Department at UC Davis Medical Center as an army combat medic. Since then, as a certified athletic trainer I have been on the medical staff with numerous Professional, University, High School, and Junior leagues participating in acute, subacute and post-surgical musculoskeletal and head injuries both on the field and in the athletic training room.

In 2000, I opened my first Chiropractic/Sports Medicine Clinic in Pleasanton, CA and was in the same location for 14 years. During that time, I opened a second location in San Ramon, CA with Michael Temkin, DO (Board Certified Internal Medicine). Having internal medicine in the room right next door to me was such a valuable experience to gain insight in the day to day operations of family medicine. During that time, I continued to serve as an athletic trainer both on the sidelines and in the athletic training room.

In 2009, I joined the Veteran’s Administration Hospital and practiced in the multidisciplinary setting of Integrated Brain Health and Wellness in Martinez, CA with neurology, internal medicine, orthopedics, physical therapy, and exercise specialists. As a chiropractor in the VA, I served my fellow veterans by helping them overcome pain and improve function and provided an alternative to opioids and more invasive procedures. I successfully developed the exercise specialists internship with volunteers from 24Hour Fitness to help veteran’s choose exercise as an alternative to medications and aid in weight loss along with diet modifications while under personal trainer supervision.

In 2011, I was appointed to the Medical Advisory Board at 24Hour Fitness Corporate Headquarters and served with Internal Medicine, Cardiology, and Orthopedics. 24Hour Corporate then built a medical clinic for me in San Ramon, CA where me and my staff (chiropractors and massage therapists) treated employees and their families. We reduced medical cost significantly within 6 months and I was asked to join their Executive Team in 2013 as the VP, Sports Science and Human Performance. Unfortunately, the Board of Directors decided to sell the company and I was among the 26 executives who lost their jobs in 2013.

I relocated to Dallas, TX shortly after I was let go from 24Hour Fitness and opened a sports medicine clinic and commercial athletic training room. I then repeated the process in Denver, CO in 2016 – 2018 and worked primarily with physical therapists, massage therapists and strength coaches. In 2018, I returned to Dallas, TX to open a multidisciplinary clinic, Body Lounge Park Cities, where I currently practice with nurse practitioners and physicians.

When I am not seeing patients, I enjoy being outdoors and taking my RV on road trips to see this wonderful country and enjoy everything this country has to offer.
