Matteo Pistono is an author, meditation teacher and an Oxygen Advantage Advanced Instructor. Matteo teaches breathwork, pranayama, and meditation (online and in person) and in group setting to all age ranges. Matteo brings a Buddhist-influenced approach to his meditation teachings. Breathwork sessions include OA fundamentals as well as pranayama methods. 

Matteo’s numerous books include Breath How You Want to Feel: 5 Principles for Better Health, Sleep, and Energy (Hay House 2024), Meditation: Coming To Know Your Mind (Hay House 2017), and In The Shadow of the Buddha: One Man’s Journey of Discovery in Tibet (2011), among others. Matteo’s writings about meditation, Buddhism, yoga, Himalayan and Southeast Asian cultural, political, and spiritual landscapes have appeared in The Washington Post, BBC, Buddhadharma, TricycleMen’s JournalKyoto Journal, and HIMAL South Asia.

Matteo completed his undergraduate degree in Anthropology and his Masters of Arts degree in Indian Philosophy from the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London. After working at the Smithsonian Institution, Matteo lived and traveled throughout the Himalayas for a decade, eventually writing three books about his experiences. He began his study of Hatha Yoga, including pranayama, in Nepal and India during this period. Matteo sits on the Executive Council of the International Network of Engaged Buddhists. He and his wife live, surf and cycle in southern California.
