I am a Health and Fitness coach and the director of River Rock Health and Fitness Farm, located approximately 55 km north of Wellington, New Zealand.
Our Health and Fitness Farm is set across 18 acres and runs adjacent to the Otaki River. We offer clients the chance to get away from their day to day stresses and come to the Farm to re-energise through movement, strength, nature and the breath.
We integrate a lot of the Oxygen Advantage techniques into our movement patterns with both strength training and high intensity work. We then slow down the breath to help them relax through meditation and breathwork at the end of each session.
We work alongside some international athletes and coaches who want to increase their performance through the breath.
I offer personal breath coaching of the Oxygen Advantage method for athletes both online and face to face.
Here is my why:
I was diagnosed with asthma when I was 11 years old. I have always been very active in sports so this diagnosis meant the start of inhaler use. I have taken at least 2 puffs of Ventolin and preventer inhalers before every training/workout for the past 28 years.
I heard about Oxygen Advantage and was very keen to improve my breathing. Since implementing the OA exercises, I have managed to complete workouts without a sign of asthma (nasal breathing) and requiring minimal asthma medication.
The transition to nasal breathing whilst exercising was not pretty and definitely a challenge in the first few months. But perseverance and consistency with my OA training I’m now seeing the benefits.
I am still working on improving my breathing but if it didn’t get any better from here, I’d still be happy (BOLT has gone from 12 to 21).
In the 28 years I have been an asthmatic I had never been asked how I breath. Now I know how important functional breathing is during sleep, rest and exercise I want to help as many people as I can to get their breathing right, to get the most out of life.
